Our editorial decisions are made independently of any commercial relationship. Affiliate partnerships do not determine rankings, scores, or recommendations, and no company can pay for a better review. See how we make money for the full picture.

Accuracy & fact-checking

Before a page is published, the factual claims in it — state fees, deadlines, filing rules, and service pricing — are checked against an authoritative source. Figures that change over time are dated, and we link to the source so you can confirm the current number yourself. If we can't verify a claim, we don't publish it as fact.

Primary-source sourcing

We prioritize official, primary sources — state Secretary of State and Division of Corporations sites, official fee schedules, statutes, and the IRS — over secondary blog content. Where a page relies on a provider's own published terms, we say so.

Hands-on experience vs. researched analysis

We distinguish clearly between services we've used firsthand and those we've evaluated from published information. Where we have direct experience with a product, we draw on it and label it as such. Where we don't, we analyze official requirements, live pricing and checkout flows, and documented customer experiences — without presenting that as hands-on testing. How we use AI

We may use AI tools to help with research, drafting, and editing. No page is published as raw AI output. Every page is reviewed, edited, and fact-checked by a human editor who is accountable for its accuracy, and any specific figure or legal requirement is verified against an authoritative source by a person before it goes live.

Honesty about trade-offs

We don't claim a single service is best for everyone. We explain who each option suits — including when filing yourself is the better, cheaper choice — and when a recommendation has downsides, we state them plainly.

Affiliate disclosure & FTC compliance

Affiliate links are disclosed near the calls-to-action on our pages, in the footer, and in full on our affiliate disclosure page, consistent with the spirit of the FTC's endorsement guidelines: clear, conspicuous, and honest.

Updates & corrections

We aim to review our key pages at least twice a year, and sooner whenever a state announces a fee or rule change. If you spot an error, contact us — we correct mistakes promptly and note significant corrections on the affected page so the record is transparent.

The pen name covers one real person: the experiences described on this site are the founder's own, and messages to the editor reach him directly. The site is not owned by, operated by, or affiliated with any registered-agent or formation company. It is free to read and funded by affiliate commissions.
