It costs you nothing extra

The commission is paid by the company, not by you. You pay the same price whether you use our link or go to the company directly. It simply funds the research and writing that keeps these guides free.

It doesn't change our recommendations

This is the part that matters most. A higher commission never earns a better review. Our recommendations are based on pricing, what's actually included, privacy features, renewal and cancellation terms, support quality, and which option fits a given situation. When the best choice for you is a cheaper competitor — or filing yourself with no service at all — we say so. You'll see "choose DIY" and "choose a competitor" guidance throughout the site, because that honesty is the only reason a recommendation is worth anything.
